Contract Law 30 Credits Mandatory
This unit aims to consolidate and further develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of key principles of contract law, including formation and content of contracts, invalidating factors and
ways of discharging a contract and the remedies available for breach of contract.
Criminal Law 30 Credits Mandatory
This unit aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of the criminal law and criminal justice system in England and Wales, including general principles of criminal law, practical and ethical considerations in acting for clients and how technology is used in criminal legal practice.
Learners will be able to explain and apply the elements of criminal offences including homicide, offences against the person and property offences as well as defences.
Public Law 30 Credits Mandatory
This unit aims to consolidate and further develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of fundamental features of the law and justice system in England and Wales, including the nature of the constitution and function of the constitutional organs, the impact of devolution and
the UK’s exit from the EU. Learners will also learn the purpose and process of judicial review and how civil liberties and equality are provided for at law.
Legal Skills 30 Credits Mandatory
This unit aims to consolidate and further develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of fundamental features of the law and justice system in England and Wales, including the nature of the constitution and function of the constitutional organs, the impact of devolution and
the UK’s exit from the EU. Learners will also learn the purpose and process of judicial review and how civil liberties and equality are provided for at law.
After completing the ATHE Level 4 Diploma in Law (120 credits), students have two progression options:
Option 1
Continue to ATHE Level 5 Diploma in Law (the equivalent of the second year of a UK LLB (Hons))
or
Options 2
Apply to universities for entry into Year 2
